For the past couple of weeks, my partner and I have been buckling down and working hard to put a template on all of the scanned Wall of Fame pictures. Two years ago, two people in this class took all of the Wall of Fame pictures and scanned everyone of them and put them in a folder on google. This year, Mr. Large made a template that would make those pictures look good as a slideshow. That is our goal: the school will put tv's in the hallways and you will be able to watch the slideshow go through the years of Wall of Fame teams and players. We got onto Photoshop on our computers and one by one downloaded the scans and put them into the template. We brightened and added saturation to the pictures and then altered the text to say the year and what the team is honored for. We did many of these from 1957-2020. This was such a cool project because we recognized many of the people being our friends moms and dads! We also got to see some of our teachers from when they were younger. This project will have to be passed down to all of Mr. Large's serve learning classes because we will have more and more Wall of Fame pictures every year! I will put the jpeg below! The psd file is too big to link on here, but Mr. Large will have the template if you need it!

My partner and I received the letters back! We were surprised by how much time the residents spent on writing their response letters. They really dived deep into stories from their lives and getting to know more about the kids! It took about 2-3 weeks to get all of the letters back. We labeled the envelopes that we gave them so we knew whose letters they were responding to. We didn't receive a couple of the letters, so we are having our grandparents write them! Next week we are going to pass these amazing letters out back to the kids!
When we sent the letters to the residents, it was sort a a hefty process. We wanted the residents to be able to send them out for free, and since we didn't have anyone sign up we couldn't trust everyone to write letters so we couldn't pick them up from their houses. Therefore, we had to work with Mr. Large to figure out what to do. We ended up putting the kid's letters and an empty envelope with my address and a stamp in a bigger envelope. That way the letters will be sent to my house for free.
We bought notebook paper, pencils, and envelopes. We brought these supplies to Mrs. Rodebeck's class for them to write their letters. They were so smart and wrote awesome letters. The residents will be so excited to read them! |
